Telangana Employee Associations – Detailed Notes

The Telangana Movement gained strength through the active participation of employees, teachers, journalists, IT professionals, and private sector workers. Several associations were formed, each playing a crucial role in mobilizing people and leading protests. Below are the details of the major Telangana Employee Associations and their contributions.

1. Telangana NGO Association:

  • Established in 1946 in the Nizam State as the Mulazim Union.
  • First President: Abdul Gaffar Hussain.
  • In 1967, renamed as the Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers (NGO) Association.
  • Played a significant role in the 1969 Movement under the leadership of K.R. Amos and Swaminathan.
  • On October 21, 2009, organized a massive employee rally in Siddipet.

2. Telangana Employees Association:

  • Formed on July 25, 2001.
  • First President: Vithal.
  • Since 2004, has been releasing the annual Telangana Diary.
  • Organized the Quit Telangana Movement in 2006.
  • Leadership timeline:
    • 2002–2005: A. Krishna Reddy (President)
    • Later: D. Sudhakar, Swami Goud, Devi Prasad
    • Currently: Karam Ravindra Reddy

3. Telangana Journalists Forum:

  • Established on May 31, 2004 at Basheerabad Press Club under the leadership of Allam Narayana.
  • In 2001, essays written by Telangana journalists were compiled into a book titled “May 31” by Allam Narayana and Kandukuri Ramesh.

4. Telangana Teachers Forum:

  • Formed on September 20, 2006 at St. Peter’s High School.
  • G. Sridhar served as Convener and temporary President.

5. Telangana IT Forum:

  • Established in 2006 at the Arts College.
  • Worked not only for Telangana statehood but also for securing job reservations for locals in companies like Wipro, Satyam, and HITEC City.

6. Telangana Lecturers Forum:

  • Formed on July 8, 2007 for government, private, and aided college lecturers.
  • First President: Murali Manohar.
  • Vice Presidents: Chandrasekhar, Shabbir Ali, Krishna Kumar.
  • General Secretary: Dr. Katti Venkataswamy.
  • Currently, Katti Venkataswamy serves as President, and U. Siddeshwar as General Secretary.

7. Telangana Private Employees Association:

  • Formed on June 15, 2008 at the Sundarayya Vignana Kendram.
  • Works to ensure that 80% of private sector jobs in Greater Hyderabad and 100% of private jobs in districts are reserved for locals.
